What is a Registered Veterinary Technician?
A Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) is an essential part of the veterinary health team responsible for various tasks.
Now with the new regulations surrounding COVID-19 and curbside appointments, they may be the only member of the team you see in person during your visits.
RVT's are highly skilled individuals that have graduated from an accredited college. They are required to pass the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) which allows them to become registered. They are also required to complete continuing education each year in order to maintain their registration status. This gives them the opportunity to continue learning new skills as this field is always evolving and changing.

- blood draws and catheter placements
- running lab work (blood, urinalysis, cytology, fecals)
- taking and developing radiographs
- monitoring anesthesia and assisting in surgery
- patient care during hospitalization
- calculating and administering medications
- filling and dispensing prescriptions
- client education
- assisting DVM's with appointments
