Surgery
Here at Main Street Animal Hospital we offer routine elective surgeries such as spays and neuters. We also offer soft tissue surgery to remove things such as masses.
Another common surgery that we offer are dentals. In some cases teeth may need to be extracted. Dependent on the case we can offer this service here. In more advanced cases we may need to refer to a dental specialist.
Orthopedic surgeries can also be performed here. We work closely with a mobile veterinarian who specializes in this service (Dr. Joe Rousseau).
We do recommend for most patients undergoing surgery that we perform pre-surgical bloodwork. For some patients the veterinarian may make it manditory. Such blood testing is performed to check the kidneys, the liver, blood sugar and protein levels. As well, red and white blood cell information is determined. All of the blood work parameters allow us to minimize the risks to your pet that can be associated with anesthesia. More extensive blood testing is performed in our more senior patients for this same reason of safety.
If you would like to schedule a surgical procedure for your pet, please give our office a call and speak to one of our knowledgeable staff members. In most cases we do require a consultation with a veterinarian prior to booking.
