Surgery
Here at Main Street Animal Hospital we offer surgeries such as spays, neuters and mass removals.
Orthopedic surgeries can also be performed here. We work closely with a mobile veterinarian who specializes in this service (Dr. Joe Rousseau).
All pets must receive an examination by one of our veterinarians prior to schedule surgery. We must determine if your pet is healthy and able to undergo general anesthesia. Each pet is assessed and the anesthetic protocol is titrated to their individual needs.
Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is always recommended to ensure that there are no underlying health issues that could negatively impact how the patient does under anesthetic or how they recover. For some patients we may make it mandatory.
The bloodwork checks several biochemistries for the liver and kidneys to make sure that they can metabolize the drugs and anesthesia okay. It also checks a complete blood count to make sure that there is adequate platelets for clotting, no anemia or infection occuring.
If you would like to schedule a surgical procedure for your pet, please give our office a call and speak to one of our knowledgeable staff members. Estimates can be provided after your pet has been examined.
